Importing from Europe

Don't fully understand where this thread is at, at the moment, however, here is my 10ps worth.

I import a range of products from around Europe and the following applies.

1. The exchange rate £/EU is at the best it has been for over 2 years. 1.48 almost as opposed to 1.42, small but it makes a difference to your profits, if you sell at a fixed £ price.

2. As an importer with a Registered VAT number you pay NO VAT at source, only on your sales, That way you do not have to pay the higher VAT rates that apply in some parts of Europe, then wait 4 months to try and claim it back.

3. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to do back-to-back orders like TT UK, and I think it is one of the reasons why their prices are so high. I import aluminium boxes from Slovenia and it costs me the same amount to ship 10 boxes in as opposed to 1, my 11 year old can tell you the economics of this one.

So rip off yes, is it malicious, I suspect not I think it is more their lack of business sense.

Caveman

IMHO things are made worse by the fact TT.de do their own website in English, so you can directly compare not only prices but also order from Germany( but are obviously re-directed after you have ordered)

Anyone wish to post a Germany supplier that will suppliy UK direct?

:beerjug:

I don't see the problem, you can just go to the German website and order anything you need directly from TT.de, can you?

The Dutch importer of TT has nearly the same prices as TT.de by the way. So I think it's also a matter of question & demand.

My €0.02....

not in the UK you can't, that's the problem.

you have to get the price inflated & added delay by going through TTUK.

isn't anyone from TTUK ever going to address these problems?

Love the flag design, have you considered promoting it to the Republicans Down Under?

It is actually a design (I think Design 76) from a competition that was run in 1998. This was the design that was preffered by the public however that was not good enuff for the polli's and the supposed "good & great" so they chose a boring design with the Southern Cross on a blue background with a white curve over a red shape that looks like Uluru flatten.

If you want to have a look at the variety of designs the AusFlag and select "The Peoples Vote"...

Mind you I really like the "Dropbears" logo. Check the bottom of the page of DropBears Bike Links . Talk bout an angry koala... can't add an image on edit...
