Time to hang up GS Rich's hat/coat

Wooow cheers to everyone for all of the replies god I wasnt expecting them. Jacal and tuned in its all good and I never held any grudges.

PM's will be replied to tomorrow people.

As for the web site yeh I guess its still on but the business as from Friday is in the hands other than Tom's my boss.

Tom has given me some much advice and tips over the years and always looked after me with the trips to the Ring and Spa where I was lucky enough to drive many of his fast cars. I hope he does well and gets himself sorted.

Thank you once again everyone, im really struggling with things but I guess I will get there

Rich :beerjug:

Rich, as so many others have said,

you have helped so many out over the years, know of you more on the vfr site,

not a great time for this to happen, hope things get sorted real soon.

:)

Sorry to hear this Rich, never had any direct dealings with you but searched and read lots of your posts to fix things when I was first sorting out my autocom/garmin etc.

I can imagine exactly how you're feeling right now, I got made redundant 18th December 1999 after 13 years with a company. 2 young kids, wife at home, new mortgage all thrown in for good measure. Started my own company in Jan 2000 and never looked back........as one door closes.......

Best of luck whatever you decide to do in the future.

Sorry to hear that Rich... met you for the first time at the NEC... first class service again... and you'll be sorely missed on here too :(

I hope things work out for you ( and Autocom) :beerjug::beerjug:

So one week after the NEC Autocom are down the tubes (if we read this thread correctly).

Wonder how many cash orders were taken that are now worthless and how many suppliers will not get paid.

Sorry to hear that Rich ..... best of luck for the future. I'm sure your advice will still be required on this site :)

Karl - there's a time and a place mate - and this thread is neither.

Good luck Rich - here's hoping you find something even better really soon :thumb

Rich,

This sucks, finally found a company which makes quality products and it stops trading.

Thank you for all your help, and all the best in the future.

Casper

sorry to hear the news as well... I was gonna phone today to ask about the blue tooth dongle thingy....:blast

Sorry to hear that Rich, you've helped me out a lot over the phone and via email. Hope you get sorted soon. :(

Very sorry to read of the problems at Autocom. A great product. I have just ordered a few items from Sam at www.chainspeed.co.uk and he has plenty of stock available if needed, and he confirmed that he will continue to support Autocom products if the worst should happen to the parent company.
Sam is a top bloke, and there are several posts to that effect in the Welsh section.

I've known Tom Beman, the owner of Autocom, for a good 15 years, & have never had a bad word to say about the company.

I have just spoken to Sue in the office at Autocom, who assures me that they are still trading,& manufacturing/supplying parts.

She did concede there had been a staff member or two made redundant.

I cannot say where the truth lies, but this does appear to be a slightly different version.

yup defo agree with gypsy on that one there is plenty of stock still out here and Sam at Chainspeed has got more experience with the product than me as Sam trained me up when I first worked for Autocom.

Also there are a lot ot stock still in the other dealers.

As for the calls to autocom one or two jobs....where do I start!!

Rich :beerjug:

You with no subscription and a post count of 10 .. yeah we are going to believe you over GS Rich

For the benefit of Proff .. just in case he does another one of his things .. I only have good things to say about Autocom. I love the unit on my bike, as it just works. The initial problems were down to the fitter .. fitting it wrong, which Rich sorted out FOC :thumb2

I am lots of things, but I'm not untruthful. I have known Rich for the last five or so years, & found him to be unfailingly polite & helpful, & I am truly sorry that he's no longer working there; however, I rang the company & passed on what Tom's staff said.

Rich may be 100% correct in what he says - I just pointed out there was another side to the story. Ring them yourself, & let us know what they say.

Martyn Hillier, Cheltenham.

Having heard the recent news and having just spoken with GSRich, I too share the thoughts of the other forum members. My thoughts are with all staff members who have been made unemployed for Xmas. Rich, I wish you the best of luck with your new opportunities, I know you will make the best of it.

I have worked for, or with Autocom for almost 10 years and I am more than happy to take over from GS Rich (if required) on here in the form of tech support. I will not be posting the "hard sell" etc etc but if you need any help or advise please get in touch. We as many other dealers have autocom stock and will continue to support, supply & fit the product in the same way as we always have.

Dear Martyn of Cheltenham,

Part of the emotions of this thread is one of sympathy for Rich losing his job AND the loss of a British manufacturing company that has produced a great product. Therefore your well intended note to clarify the situation on behalf of Autocom was seen by myself as an attack on those emotions. Hence I responded in the manner with which I did.

I would like to make it known that I don't know you and therefore unlikely to make a good assessment of whether or not you are a compulsive liar.

I would however highlight to you a comment made earlier in the thread that seems to me to be relevant to your post.

do not quite see the point is relevant.....already posted how sorry that gsrich has lost his job....BUT whether autocom survives as a business or not is a matter of some importance...so why are you trying to silence/censor a comment pointing out that maybe there may be more than first appears to the story??
and I do like the touch about deleting the post....nobody died did they?

in fact I also have been on the phone to Autocom and a very nice lass there called Kerry tell me that they are still trading and she knows nothing of an impending/actual liquidation.
I of course take this with a pinch of salt, as "they would say that wouldn't they" if the receiver was trying to organise a sale without too much loss of value....time will tell!

please accept this as a non apology in advance of your reply:augie

Tom I believe as you said ""this thread is one of sympathy for Rich losing his job" I think this is true more than anything. so caustic responses have no place here. just accept it as a comment.
