Time warp 1100

You see the rest of us are used to black oil on a🙄stained sight glass on our old shonkers...😁
Good spec the only bigger worry is the possibility of some dried out seals through lack of use...

That rarely happens .. a few of my bikes had stood for years.. My R100GS had stood for around 13 years .. seals never leaked, a few others have stood for between 5/10 years, never leaked. Had a couple of customers old K75/100 stood for years never leaked and K 1100 stood for an estimated 20 years with only 1500 miles, never leaked .. …. one thing , all the K series brake master cylinders needed replacing,

Maybe I’ve just been lucky, or you’ve been unlucky :D

Good news... I just remember two or three oilhead sales bikes with low miles and activity having the rear crank or gearbox seal leaking screwing the clutch... Usually a good PX due to miles...👍😄 It looks a great but if the price behaves but it'd be a shame to be kept low miles just to keep "value"... They're proper riders bikes...👍

One of my 11s had a weeping rear crank seal fer a fair while though but luckily ended up round the dry joint on the bell housing as the back of the flywheel saves the clutch... Also the sale on is a later gearbox...👍

Looks like it, the original auction didnt hit reserve, and it looks like as you say, its been sold on
I
thought it would make about 5k
Ive seen it in person its mint

Back on ebay at £7k- last sale on ebay (presumably to this seller) was £4189

They'll be wanting their 7k... Same shop etc... you'd have to be real hardcore to go that high with the market as it is... And I doubt Oilheads will ever hit the headless heights collectors of Airheadery have gone to in the past...

Another perspective. Lets say (hypothetically) that I have a budget of £7k for a new (to me) bike. I want something that'll tour, commute, have a bit of a blast. I don't want a million rider modes or loads of electronic gubbins. for my £7k, what else would fit the bill? I agree that it's a (very) limited market, but financially I don't think it's too daft. Lets say in 3 years I put 25k miles on it. I reckon it's still worth 3.5k. If I bought any other bike for £7k, added 25k miles, would it lose significantly less? I'll be honest, I'm tempted. I already have an 1100GS. If I could buy a brand new one, I probably would.

Trouble is you'd use the one you have and keep this on ice to save it's authenticity...👍🤣 As your perspective says, a decent nearly new bike for £7k but nearly all the other buyers won't see the "quality" that us blinkered 1100 owners see cos we might love the simple life but we are all probably tight arses too...😆👍😂

I saw it and I wouldn’t pay £7k for it at a dealer
Fair enough, and I think a lot of people would agree with you - I certainly think there is a very small pool of prospective purchasers, I was just musing last night as to what else £7k (or £5k and my current bike) would get me that I'd prefer, and I'm still thinking....
I think the mileage is high enough that it would be used rather than 'stored' (probably). I've seen some 'still in the crate' Bonnevilles and MGBs - I don't think I'd use them, but 5k miles.... that's not 'new', it's just a really low miles used bike. It's just looking for someone after what could be the best example of one out there - a 'nearly new' one, and a person for whom the money isn't the whole story. Maybe I'm a sucker for things like this - I have a 1968 VW beetle that owes me far more than it'll ever be worth, but I get a lot of enjoyment out of it, and possibly, for the right buyer, this is the right bike.
