Sorry to start yet another thread on this topic, but a couple of things happened to me last week which seem to illustrate BuMW's differing attitude to bike purchasers compared to car buyers.

On Wednesday I had an email from customer services turning down a goodwill claim on a FPC failure relating to my 8400 mile '05 GS because it had happened in France and I had purchased the part from a French dealer. Apparently they can only entertain goodwill claims if the work is carried out by a UK dealer. They deny any safety issue, even though the engine stops without warning... I duly completed the VOSA complaint form and forwarded same to Tim.

On Friday I received an urgent safety recall on my M3 because - wait for it - the engine may cut out at low speeds, and the gearbox software has to be reprogrammed.

Dual standards???

I think part of the problem is that they don't have a fix for the FPC yet.
