carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by a ligament in the wrist putting pressure on a nerve. You can tell if this the case by checking if the tingling and numbness is only in your first 2 fingers and thumb and if your last 2 fingers are not. It's not caused by
riding a bike, you can be born with it, and the systems appear as you get older. Or by the type of job you do, You can have an opp to cure it.

White finger is usually caused by constant everyday use of vibrating power tools over a long period of time. (as in years) and not wearing thick gloves.

If I did more than about 80 miles in one go on my Aprilia Pegaso I used to get exactly the same problem. Now I have an R1150GS I don't get any problems at all.

Dumb question, but are you gripping the bars too tight? Would changing the position of the bar or fitting a riser make it more comfortable and thus encourage you not to grip as tight?

Has anything changed with the bike to cause vibration?

(b.t.w. it is not often you get the chance to call a Scotsman tight fisted :D )

tingling fingers

hi i fitted alloy wheels which drop front 1in,come to think of it i fitted the alloys 3-4wks ago and i have never had this tingling finger shit before that,il get bar risers.,any risers yous recommend.cheers again.

No idea about bar risers. Mike O has some fitted on his bike.

Touratech (now in Wales) do good bar risers, they raise the bars about an inch and make it more relaxing to ride.
They cost around thirty quid. If you call Bracken in London, they'll give you Touratechs new number. I hope this cures your tingling!
:p

I have recently had my 850GS serviced (12000 miles) and when I picked it up there was definately more vibes coming through the bars and I suspect that when they adjusted the throttle bodies (or whatever they're called) they are not quite in synch. I'm off to the Alps on Tuesday and I'll let you know how I get on.

HAve Fun

Have you changed your gloves lately, riding style, do you have heated grips (this helps).
