No not the ones like don't eat yellow snow! My clutch is slipping under load on my 1100GS. it's done about 39000 miles and is worse when cold. Basically I'm going to check the usual bits and bobs but if it comes to a replacement clutch assembly i was wondering if it's a job for a dealer or can a reasonably able home mechanic like me do it?

Any advise or pitfalls would be appreciated please?

Sounds like your clutch is donald ducked. a dealer will help you off with a nice thick wedge for your trouble, and it really is a diy job, if you're half confident, and not frightened by a few nust and bolts (especially when you find out what is really holding the whole back end of your bike tougether!!).
Get your self a new clutch set, and a modded clutch push rod, and lock yourself in the garage.
First one I done took seven hours ( no book or manual) I can now doo it in about three and a half (on a good day)
Go for it:beerjug:

Fairly straight forward as long as you feel confident stripping Bike down to this level. Pic of R850R which is much the same as GS.

I know ive said this before, but Check the clutch operating lever behind the gearbox. These sometimes seize up causing slip under load.
