As the thread says…..I want to have your experience on the following topic:

Which tire you used so far was the most quiet and also if you were happy from their dry/wet gripping characteristics.

Tourance EXP (2010)

I use the EXPs….good overall characteristics :comfortso far (11.000Km)….my problem is that
1. they look as new.
2. have some WoWoWoW (no grinding, to scraping) from the rear after 70Km/h.

(Checked my FD...no problem so far:augie, so WoWoW is not coming from FD/shaft/other staff…I guess it will knock my door later though:rob)

the quietest tyres are without doubt slicks or any tyre with all of the tread worn away but before it gets to the canvas.

Except on shiny Greek tar when they tend to "sing", but more opera than wowowo:beerjug:

That's so true.

I wise we had the quality of tarmac you find in UK. (New constructed highways are OK, but most of the roads are in really bad tarmac condition due to poor construction and of course, very high overall temperatures.)

I spend almost 6 years up in Glasgow...and I know exactly how is it to ride on such a high friction road....:beerjug:

Does any of you uses street tires on a GS;

i have tourance EXP at the moment and find them noisy.

in the past i have had loads of the original tourance, which are only noticeably noisy when cranked over.

conti trail attacks were good tyres and quiet.

Conti TKC 80's or Metz Karoo's........:augie:blast

Any 100% road tyre will be quieter than a trail/road tyre and will usually last longer giving better grip at the same time. It's the knobbly tread that makes them noisey

Dunlop TR91 Trailmax, grip like roadsmarts, look the part and best tyre I have had yet on my GSA.

How bizarre. I had EXP's on and didn't notice one single bit of road noise, in fact I wondered what folk were harping on about as I thought you wouldn't be able to hear tyre noise over the wind and engine. However, since swapping to original tourances I have really noticeable tyre noise :nenau

Another vote for Road smarts by far the best rubber I have had fitted and they seem pretty quiet as well as very grippy even in a thunder storm :thumb

Had several different tyres and only ones that I noticed as noisy were Michelin Pilot ,especially on French roads, they must have different surface over there.

just fitted a michelin anakee 2 to rear of my gs1200, its makes a lot of noise, have had tourances for the last 64,000, never noticed noise from them
