Tires or Tyres? latest opinions...

What kind of mileage is expected from TCK80's with road riding only? I know knobblies on roads aren't that great but I've heard good things about the road manners of these tyres. My thought would be to have a dual purpose tyre in the summer months and a knobblie in the winter for when I get caught out in the snow.

I have only got 4000 out of my BT020's and the rear is getting squared off, i might get 5k if im lucky but im already starting to feel a change in the handling. Most of the damage was done on a 1000 mile trip mainly on motorways , and i thought they were dual compound with a harder wearing centre.

Bridgestone used to do the dual compound on the BT54's but when the 020's came out, they did away with it. My old Triumph Sprint ST would do 9000 miles on a rear BT54, but that went down to 7500 on the 020's. I'll be sticking to Tourances on the GS. They provide me with all the grip I need with a life on the rear of 11000 miles.

Just want to thank everyone for their inputs here. I know the tyre subject seems to get beaten to death but it's good to hear the latest opinions.

Getting new skins this week. It's between another set of Anakees or trying out the BT020's. I think I've decided to go with the BT020's this time. Based on everything I've heard on this thread and from other sources, I'm pretty confidant they'll be good road tires and I'll have a new personal experience to compair to the exceptional Anakee tyres to.

If anyone else wants to share their experiences with different tyres on the GS please feel free add to this thread anytime.

I had anakees on my varadero and found them to be very good, wear and grip. I would say however that the honda was much heavier than the GS and had none of the handling capabilities.

I changed to anakees as a free replacment from Michelin for a T66 that chunked up on the motorway.

Sort of put me off buying Michelins again, got tourance now on the GS and I am very happy with them.
