I've recently started getting undeliverable returns from Tiscali emails that I send to from my home email provider Orange.fr
Up until a week ago all was fine but I now have 3 people I cannot get in contact with.
Tiscali helpline is based in India I believe and I sometimes get a reply to my question which is answered overnight but they are seemingly uninterested in helping to solve the problem.
Today they pointed me to the following -
"I would like to mention that there are several organisations that blacklist any IP address. You can have look on the list by visiting the link below:

http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx

You can click on the respective organisation that have listed the IP address into the blacklisted directory and know more about the procedure to whitelist any IP address.

I believe this information would be helpful to you in resolving the issue that you are experiencing from a stretched time."

From what I can gather I get 30 days free trial with mxtoolbox but then you have to pay and I don't really feel this is my problem.
They also ignored several of my questions regarding this problem.
All other isp's that I email work perfectly well.
Tiscali emails get returned with this in the reply -
"550 mail not accepted from blacklisted IP address"
Any hints and tips appreciated.
Thanks very much.

cancell your direct debit and go elsewhere for your broadband you will have thier undivided attention i suspect a bit closer than india.
p.s never had this problem with b.t.

http://www.robtex.com/ are a good source as well for DNSBL's The problem is ISP's use many lists and some are not as good as others, in fact some will charge to remove domains and IP's from the lists which is a useful source of revenue.

We use many DNSBL's but the only one I always trust is Spamhaus.

BT is a bit different in the way they work but they do use black lists and they will block IP's if needed. Look on the bright side, at least you do not live in Taiwan, a few years ago AOL blanket blocked ALL mails from .tw domains :blast

Thanks for the replies people.
I'm with Orange in France and my problems are only emailing anyone using Tiscali, albeit only in the last couple of weeks. Prior to that it was all fine.
One of the people I have problems emailing has reported the problem to Tiscali and has a problem number. I have reported the problem to Tiscali and have another problem number. But Tiscali "helpdesk" are not at all helpful and are not even attempting to solve the problem.
It is only Tiscali I have a problem with, all other email contacts work fine.
I won't be changing my isp as that is simply far too much work for something that may not even be resolved by doing so.
Thanks ovenpaa, I will have a look at your reply but I'm already confused by some of the terms you are using I'm afraid and I don't see how I can change a blacklist address that all the big isp people are using.
Technology is just too technological nowdays.

Generate a gmail or whatever.mail account to use for those contacts that use blocked IP's.

Orange.fr is identified by some UK service providers as being a source of spam so they block ALL mail originating from that SP.

NTL also blocks Orang.fr periodically... they are just w*k*ers really.

Urk! You are right - it was not a very user friendly reply :)

Try a different approach, go to your ISP and tell them what is happening, ISP's (well some of them) talk to each other, so Orange.fr might take a dim view to being on a Tiscali black list.

Sorry, I didn't take it as unfriendly just a little bit too technical for me.
Yes Orange is a sort of obvious step but it's Orange France and whilst my French is improving, well you see what I'm like when the technology is written in English. so I'm leaving that option until last.

And thanks for the replies people, appreciated.

I have actually asked Tiscali if they talk to other ISP's to resolve problems and they've simply ignored the question although they (Tiscali) have told me they do not have any black lists or white lists. No I don't believe them either.
