Ok, not a ride out but most definately an aftermath!!!

The TITS team and select invited guests had their second of three prep weekend this week.

First off, many thanks to a couople of vital people;

Charlie Batty, who gets loads of :bow from us all for taking a day out on Friday to borrow a trailer, drive many hundreds of miles around the south west and delivering 8 scoots from all over the place (including one he'd bought and had donated himself and one from Bakerman who has kindly done the same) to Scoot Central in Telford.

Cheers Charlie, and it was great meeting the lovely Poppy as well :thumb

And many thanks to Noddy's Industrial Fabrication And Welding Inc. (that'll be Noddy, Polar Bear and their lovely better halves Susan and Lynne) for turning up and creating a mega-roof-rack for the truck from scratch....

It wasn't a short job either......

44340333-M.jpg

But the end result is dead strong and after a coat of Hammerite on Sunday morning, is a superb bit of kit that will certainly do the job...many thanks Graham and Ian :thumb

Also huge thanks to Jason (aka Rocky, or if you prefer, Mr Archaeo) who has donated (and is currently fitting to the wheels we salvaged) a laod of off road tyres for the scoots, as well as spending all weekend stripping and rebuilding scoots.

44330409-M.jpg

There'll be some more news of Jason now that I've heard that he's got a pass for a very special twist to the whole TITS event very soon......keep your eyes open :D

Some of the scoots didn't need any work, so we ran them up, rode them about like silly bastards and lined them up for storage....

44330147-L.jpg

I seem to have a knack of catching Oblertone looking like a twat in my pictures :D

44337582-L.jpg

How bloody fit does that scoot look though....and again, thanks must go to Bryn for his work early on in the project in blagging these beauties from Leicestershire police service.

Other scoots though needed a lot of work...we had 14 on site I think, and we stripped, wrecked, pulled apart, smashed, unscrewed, unbolted, tugged, wrenched and kicked the living shyte out of them until they were all in bits.......

Rev Chuck getting stuck in....
44330651-M.jpg

Noddy using a techinical impact adjuster......

Oblertone; 'When I nod my head, you hit it'

'Feck...bastard!!!!!'
:D
44330768-M.jpg

Scoot Central's courtyard sterted looking like a C90 slaughterhouse;
44333700-M.jpg

44330985-M.jpg

Amply supplied with free flowing teas and coffees though (coutesy of Rebel (Rebecca, Mrs Riverking) Susan (Mrs Noddy) and Custard Tart (Mrs Polar bear, banana fellater) spirits were good though and boxes of kit were stripped off in short order :D

44333782-M.jpg

This little bastard just wouldn't start though......so we took some pretty drastic measures;
44336096-M.jpg

And called in the heavy squad
44336400-M.jpg

And off they went across the farmland

44336678-M.jpg

Now I don't know if you've ever been towed along a track behind a V8 range rover driven by a grinning maniac whilst riding a Honda c90, but Oblertone stopped shaking sometime on Monday Morning :D

44336998-M.jpg

Token vaguely arty shot of a rugged windswept hero (aka silly twat)
44337353-M.jpg

Gradually we were building up a big pile of spares, soon to be boxed up and labelled.

44338833-M.jpg

And we paid homage to the origin of some of the scoots in proper style

44338914-L.jpg

While all this was going on, Rebecca, Susan, Lynne and Paige started sorting out the medical kit we've had donated...thanks to everyone who's given stuff so far but keep it coming (more on that in a while.....)

44338914-L.jpg

Big piles of catheters, drugs, dressings, syringes, suction stuff for unspeakable acts, colostomy bags, and all sorts of other usefull stuff.....

44340840-M.jpg

A dressings table, more assorted medical kit....and some assorted camping stuff.....

44341023-M.jpg

Does anyone think that Steve and Rebecca will be chuffed to get their house back after this :D :thumb

We have a lot of medical kit for the Bansang hospial as you can see...but with a catchment area of 600,000 people and an infant mortality rate of 35%, by fekk do they need it.

I spoke to Anita last week and they had their quarterly drugs shipment from the state....the biggest part of it was a packet of 20 paracetamol FFS!!!

They had one light bulb in use when she was there a few weeks ago....purely because the hospital couldn't afford the 15p that it would have cost to go out and buy another...they have one sink in use and that's cracked, yet they have hundreds of patients....

That puts it in perspective for us on the trip.....I had more pain relieving drugs on me and in my car this weekend in the form of a box of neurofen than the whole hospital will be able to use this week for everyone, including post op patients and amputees.

We are running out of space to take stuff now, but anything we can get we'll get down there in some way...Anita is able to get some shipments of kit and drugs down there from time to time and she'll take anything we can supply in the next couple od containers if we can obtain it and collect it.

Anyway, back to the weekend.......

We stripped down anything we could from the non-runners
44342803-M.jpg

And gradually, with two more bikes off site, we managed to get one bike per rider plus two spares sorted out and roadworthy.

MOT's??

Fekk that.....they're safe (ish) and they run.....we're taking them all out and they'll carry us across the desert.....

By the end of the weekend we had them all sorted out and running

44335405-M.jpg

And off to bed they went.

44344690-M.jpg

On our next weekend, we'll be building shelving in the truck for the med kit, servicing the scoots, sorting out the paperwork and visas and arranging the logistics for getting everyone together for the deaprture and the party on the 28th December.

Well done and thanks to everyone involved so far......there's a lot mre to come and I'm afraid (no, fukkit, I'm very keen as I know what the responce will be ) that we'll be asking for more help and stuff.

Cheers all!!!

The tits

Good to meet up with you all last weekend. Glad we could play a small part in your worthy cause.

Thanks to Rebecca and Steve for their hospitality, and a big thank you to Rebecca for letting Lynne play with her Aga, after that and the photo shot of her being rather rude with a piece of fruit I think her moniker should be changed from Custard Tart to Banana Aga. ;)

The only questions I had outstanding were:

1. Why don't they have prawn Crackers in Shropshire?

2. Is that right Rev Chuck is actually riding a Scoot in the desert? :D

Keep up the good work.

Ian and Lynne.

Ah yes, Banana Aga, sorry Lynne the voices made me do it :D

Is anyone watching??
44654960-L.jpg

No? ah good

44654961-L.jpg

HMMMM

44654964-L.jpg

Unfortunately Polarbear was a bit more camera shy and prefered a more Neanderthal approach to banana eating

44655021-L.jpg

Fortunately, as you will have seen from Fanums pictures, some serious work did get done......
Dennis, Rocky and Steve (Rev Chuck junior) have a little lie down next to one of the scoots

44654980-L.jpg

Whilst Fanum does a passable impersonation of the Exon Valdiz :D

44654973-L-2.jpg

At least the ladies got some work done....

44654992-L.jpg

Whilst Riverking went for a play on the scoots :D

44654997-L.jpg

And Paige checked out some of the Helmets that have been donated..

44655010-L.jpg

And after a hard weekend prepping scoots, sorting medical supplies, making roofracks and sorting bike gear it was time for a few beers.....

44655013-L.jpg

....or maybe not :D Actualy this is a bit unfair on Oblertone, at some point during the evening it could have been any of us!!!

But seriously, Big thanks to Polarbear and Noddy for some sterling work on the van. To Rocky for working like a demon on the bikes and for all his other work and help with the trip. To Custard Tart and Susan for breakfast and all the other work they did over the weekend. To Jez for continuing to help and support us despite no longer being able to come on the trip. And last but not least to Riverking and Rebel for letting us take over their house yet again and looking after us all so well.

Oh and not forgeting a massive thanks to all those who have helped us with equipment, supplies or in any other way. This trip to bring much needed help to a Hospital and people in desperate need would not be happening without you. :thumb

We all enjoyed being part of making it happen. Thanks to Steve and Rebecca for the master suite :) Sorry I slept on the floor after the Port
Wonderfull to meet you all :thumb

Only problem we had was on the return home, Po kept on tellin Noddy which way to go :(
