Myself and a mate have a couple of USA spec TK3101 radios. My one seems to have died a death so I'm going to have to replace it. Chances are that the new one I get won't be programmed to the same frequency as my mates one so I'll have to re-program it.

I have the software, cables are cheap off eBay so my question is - has anyone done this before and are there any guides/tutorials available?

We have only used these radios on a trip in the USA (as they are illegal over here) and I need to fix this for a future tour there.

Cheers.....

This is for the 3201 may be similar but I am not conversant with the radio types to comment, its the nearest I could find. You will need the following:

'Kenwood KPG85d Software
Kenwood KPG90d Software
any Hex Editor
one progammer cable
and at least one Motorola TK-3201 Transceiver.
Change at adress (dec) 146807 from 85C00F85100100 to 90909090909090

Now you can edit the datafile of KPG90d in KPG85d softwrae to any frequency from 435 to 459 Mhz.

Store the File in KPG85d, open it in KPG90d and write it to your Radio.

Have Fun!'

sounds like a pernickity way to tune a radio, any techy types with the appropriate software/leads may be a quicker opton.

or get the dead one fixed............must be guys on here that work as radio techs.
