Ive done a search but nothing has come up, so, anyone running tkc 80`s on a 1200, what are they like on dry and wet roads, green laneing and how long do the last. Or should I stick with Tourances which I really like.

Thanks Paul

Tarka to the TKC phone! :)

Depends on your driving style. If you want to take your GS to gravel roads and test its Gälende capabilities then TKC80 is the right choice. They perform surprisingly well for offroad tires on tarmac. They have worse handling on wet tarmac compared to tourances or especially to anakees but it is managable. Back tire might last something about 4000 to 6000 kms depending on how much you like to turn the throttle on gravel and how much you drive on tarmac. Front tire lasts longer.
According to my opinion, best offroad tire for GS. Using metzeler karoo in the front and TKC80 back is the best combination for offroad since karoo has a better stability on loose gravel.
I found good prices for TKC80 at this spanish site www.rodamoto.net.

Take a look here, Paul. The TKC80 is a popular tyre on the 1200GS, relatively short life (c 5000 for rear), about half that of Tourances. Tourances are fine for gentle off road and rocky surfaces, TKC80s are better in mud and loose surfaces.

Cheers chaps for the info and thanks to Zmeagol for the link. :thumb

I personally use Metzler Karoo for green laning but they are not very good on tarmac - I wouldn't do over 60mph on them for sure. If you want a dual purpose tyre, TKC are the way to go. I find the Metzlers much better in mud though.
