Anybody know where I can get TKC 80s in southern Spain near Algeciras or Morocco?
Hi Peter
I brought my own and got them fitted at Aviles Racing in Granada which was on my way through the south of Spain in April this year heading to Morocco. They could have provided them as they are a dirt bike tyre specialist. Their website is:
http://www.avilesracing.com/localizame.asp
Contact details are: Neumáticos Avilés Sánchez S.L. C/ Dr. Alejandro Otero, 9 Edif. Zafiro 18004 Granada Tel/Fax: 958 523161 [email protected]
Might be of some use to you....
David
Thanks Mike. Haven't decided yet but may well use Plymouth. Just in case what is his name/address![]()
Here you go, Mapsource file too!

(No connect with the fella myself, just that he's a decent bloke who does a good job. He's done the tyre swap for other GSer's en route before now).
It may be but it is not going to be easy. Large cc bikes are rare in Morocco (except among visitors and some companies that hire dual-sport bikes. You may be able to source tyres from such companies).also interested - is it possible to buy them/TKC80/ in Morocco?
You won't find a BMW dealer outside Casablanca, or anything approaching what you may consider a dealer anywhere else but on the up-side, the Moroccans can turn their hands to almost anything. If I bring them with me - can they change them? I mean are there decent shops dealing with BMWs?
TIA

To reach Marrakech for me means around 4 or 5000 km of highways through Europe.
Thought about using a van / trailer to get the bike to the south of Spain, and then hop onto the ferry with nice new tyres?
Not very hard core though![]()

and the Marjane supermarket)Missed this thread...sorry!
I carry tyres down and it's not a problem getting them fitted as Mike says.
Three suggestions for you if you didn't want to take them with you....
1) speak to Steve Larkin, aka Gringo here....I've got his phone numbers if you can't get hold of him.
He's a top geezer based in Al Haurin, 50 mins up the road from Malaga and I'm pretty sure he could source some TKC's for you....his company does bits for 4x4's and he's the sort of guy who will go that extra mile and a half to sort people out....there is also a very good English bike mechanic in AL Haurin who he can put you on to so fitting wouldn't be a problem.
2) In Marrakech I've used a Goodyear dealer called Geuliz Pneus s.a.r.l
60 , Avenue Abdelkrim El Khattabi, Route de Casa Geueliz (the main road that goes up towards the motorway past the McDriveand the Marjane supermarket)
The director in there, Adil Tazi, is very helpful and said he could get us any tyre of any make in two to three days, so if you can find someone who speaks good French, call him and see if he can get some TKC's in for you to pick up.
His number 044 447562/044438346 and his mobile is 061 15 90 62
(You'd have to add a 00212 to those and take off the first 0 for calling from the UK.)
3) I've got 6 pairs of TKC's on board for the October trip- I only need 5 so assuming I haven't used the spare pair at the end of it, I could leave the spare set somewhere down there if that's any good to you?
