I had a set of TKC80s fitted to my F650GS this morning by Gary from mobile shop (http://gs.frogtrade.net//). He arrived promptly @ 8am as promised and fuelled by cups of tea, did a brilliant job. I'd certainly use him again.

The cost was £184 inc VAT. The rims were left spotless. Green lanes here we come!

So is the TKC80 the best dual purpose tyre choice for the smaller GS? I'm certainly happy with them on my 1200, my girlfriend's F650 will need new tyres soon so I was wondering what to get.

Anything has to be better than the Deathwings her bike currently has :D

I ran TKs on my 650 - great all rounder tyre. But can make the light front end a bit vague at low (30mph) speeds on some tarmacs.
Two rears to one front wear rate.

I put in about 40miles this afternoon on a variety of roads and speeds. The bike felt fine and I didn't experience any knobbly wobbles or braking distance issues. Sitting at 80mph there was a touch more vibration but nothing thats made me regret the decision.

PS have I mentioned they look GREAT!:clap

Vines in Guildford quoted £225 but then said it wasn't possible to get TKC80s for a standard GS 19" front wheel, just for the Dakar 21". Michelever in Hampshire would only supply them but not fit them. The sole dealer I could find was Bath Road Motors in Bristol and they were also £184. I'd also have to ride from Kingston to Bristol and back.

Dare I ask what they cost you in your neck of the woods?

Did you try Kington tyres, Kingston ? .

I bought mine from a dealer up north (F&B tyres) where I paid £126 ride in ride out. More locally I would pay £153 (before any club discounts)

After your advice yes but they told me they don't do motorcycle tyres.

But i bought a rear TKC from them about a month ago ?? -

I don't know how to explain that! Where did you have it fitted and balanced?

Day before LLangollen I paid £125 inc vat for a pair, fitted to loose wheels.

Adv sizes though ;)

I've got a TKC 80 rear read to fit on my GSA at Elliott Motorcycles in Cricklade and thats £70 fitted to the bike, got the wife to phone him up and order it while I was on the way back from Assen.

Can't comment on the standard of work yet, but cracking level of customer service so far.

oh and hands off the deposit is paid for :nono :D :nono

Is that £70 ride in ride out or fitted to a loose wheel ???

OO i paid £170 for a pair fitted ride in ride out at PH tyres in Taunton back in Febuary, a little more expensive than some of you others have paid by the looks on it, but he seems to be the only one locallay that offers a ride in ride out service

Hi Nice 'n' Fat it was ride in and ride out, but the guy was busy so I borrowed some tools and popped the wheel off, no big deal, but no discount either.

xbootie are you seriously saying you got a pair of tyres fitted for 70 quid, ride in/ride out... is the guy still in business???
