Just letting all 700 owners know (if you don't already) that Cee Baileys have brought out a decent screen model specific, available from Woody's Importarium and model specific Barkbuster brush guards are now available to order from Adventure Spec. The latter will also have crash bars soon. :thumb

I am picking up my F700 on March 1st, anything to be aware of ?.

Fit a BMW comfort seat unless you've got a steel bum and the screen is absolute crap but other than that it's great.

I tried the Wunderlich seat but wasn't impressed at all. I found it way too hard and not a lot of improvement over the original. The BMW comfort seat is much better and at aprox £250 is a lot cheaper than the Wunderlich.

Thanks for that Aubo. My problem with that is I don't believe they do the comfort seat in a low. How did you manage to try the Wunderlich? At that price I'd really like to try it before buying.

You're right, the BMW comfort seat is exactly the same height as the standard seat but it's a much better shape and has far better padding.

I swapped seats with a guy at a BMW ride out who had a Wunderlich standard seat on his bike and wanted to try my comfort seat, he was more impressed with my comfort seat than I was with his Wunderlich.

I have a Touratech low seat on my 800GS off-roader and that's just like sitting on a plank of wood and explains why off road bikers stand on the foot pegs.

If you go down to Touratech they have a selection of seats that you can try out but I can't find anyone who offers the same with Wunderlich seats.

I had the Comfort Seat fitted at the factory and it is very comfy. I junked the screen and fitted a Touratech screen and at 5ft 10 it takes all the pressure off my chest and there is little wind nose around my helmet.

Does anyone know where I can get a fender extender for the front as the engine is covered in muck from the road ?.

Hi Haifa, what Touratech screen did you get? They don't seem to do one for the 700 so I'd be interested to know what you've put on.

Best wishes,
Kate

Hi Aubo. Having spoken to Rainbow BMW (really helpful and nice) and bearing i mind what you said I've been totally talked out of the Wunderlich which is very hard apparently. I'm also told that the standard comfort seat works for the low height too as it's narrow at the front so I'm going to try one out at CW. Thanks for your advice:thumb2

You're welcome Katy, there's nothing worse than spending out a whole load of cash for a seat that's no better than the original, I know cos' I've done it in the past.

Gave in and ordered the Cee Baileys 17" screen because anything has got to be better than the original. Has your's arrived yet?

Hi Kate,
The screen from Touratech is for the F800 GS, code 048-0370 for clear or code 048-0372 for tinted. You will also need some screen fittings to replace the black plastic triangular pieces on the top edge of the fairing. These fittings will allow you to screw the screen to the fairing. Touratech will have the BMW part number and I ordered mine from motoworks.
just for info I had to redrill one of the screen holes as it was in the wrong place.

Key freezes in the lock pretty easily... had this happen to me on a few occasions.

Have had to have the indicator controls replaced as these failed after about a month. Replaced under warranty though obviously and apparently they've changed the design since then.

Don't find the seat uncomfortable personally for an hour or two.

Screen isn't great but if you duck down a bit it does direct the airflow quite nicely around you. A new one is on the upgrade list though :)

Hi Aubo, not yet but Woody's are expecting it any day - the consignment is in customs apparently. On the positive side my barkbusters are winging their way towards me as I type, due for delivery any moment. I'm trying the comfort seat tomorrow at CW, I hope the weather's a bit milder than the last two days.:)

:eek:I had to try this Gigsy, nose on pretend tank got me almost below the screen but the consequent nil visibility was a drawback that couldn't be ignored.
Thanks for the screen info. by the way:thumb2

At last - my Barkbuster brushguards:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1, not to mention the BMW comfort seat. I went to CW today to try out the latter (thanks Dave Cake and thanks Aubo for your advice) and it was great. On top of this the very king workshop guys put on my new brushguards:thumb. Just waiting for the screen now.

Hopefully I'll get a screen from the same consignment then Katy or at least I hope so because I'm really fed up with the poor excuse for a screen BMW fit as standard.
