I'm fitting a new screen but.......

The allen type screws that are at the bottom of my original type tobinators are well and truly stuck solid.... I've tried WD40, but now the head it starting to round off :(

and one of the rear bolts goes round with the nut encased plasic :( :(

So before I start drilling the 4 bottom bolts out, has anyone disassembled all of the screen mounting and tell me what to avoid before I land myself a mega bill for replacing the whole lot????

Tips anyone please???

bit late, but copperslip them on the way in.

grind the head off, remove tobinators & apply vice grips?

front screw goes into a brass insert in the cowling IIRC, so more plus gas and much luck may well be need to avoid damage to plastic.

I would suggest drilling them out. After you have approached a machine shop and got them to make you a bush. ONE end the same diameter as the tobinators thread, t'other end, the tapping drill size for the same thread.

Drill heads off, then bush ensures that remaining thread is drilled out centrally. Probably need a tap to clean out the threads.

Try drilling it out without a guide & sods law says it will go wrong.
