Tobinators, they're dead good aren't they!

Hmmmm, I've got tobinators on my GSA and no matter how much I adjust them I've never had the revelation that they're the cure to buffeting. I'm 6'6'' wearing a Schuberth S1 Pro, Arai or HJC. I do think I've found an improvement over standard but only just.

Then again, I'm a firmly in the 'black, round and full of wind' camp when it comes to tyres and could barely feel any improvement when I spent nearly a grand on Wilbers shocks.

Clumsy, thicko that I am.............

Well, that makes me feel much better for not having the money for Wilburs :D

Tested my screen at 80mph (minimal buffeting), 90mph (moderate), and 100mph (present but tolerable).

I think I'm just a lucky short-arse.

Fitted my tobinators last weekend, wonderful, really reduced the buffetting. I'm 6'6" on a std seat 1150 GSA, looking for a high seat, which may change things?
Find the airflow hits the top of my helmet giving vibration rather than buffetting at 80+, fantastic below 70
Set as high as possible
Was really bad with the original:eek:

As per requests, here's some photos of my tobinator/screen setup. Note that these are the older tobinators that don't have adjustable front mounts, just the rear mounts. I currently have them set as far down at the back as possible, I'm going to raise the back gradually and see what effect that has.

I'm 5'11, wear a bmw system 6 and this has stopped all the buffeting so far.

Justin.

thanks for the pictures that looks like the setting that i need as you seem to be the same hieght as me (that is the adventure screen isn't it) it does take a lot of fine tuning tho

Numpty here! Anyone got them on a 2010 R1200GSA (hope that's ok enough desciption of the bike, don't want to upset anyone...)... I'm 6ft3" and though have only test ridden the bike got a lot of buffeting finding the standard R1200GS much better...

2010 GSA: 6'5" terrible wind!

...from the screen that is

I'm 6'5", BMW sports helmet, standard 2010 GSA screen and seat on max height. Am getting buffeted to death at 100kph. Adjusting screen makes no difference whatsover.

Anyone is similar situation? should I try a Tobinator 1st (see http://www.nippynormans.com/TOBINAT...d-all-screen-types/productinfo/TOB-1200GS-ME/) or try the Screen Extender (see http://www.nippynormans.com/ADJUSTABLE-SCREEN-EXTENSION-UNIVERSAL/productinfo/WUN-8110025/), or do I need both?

I am 6'2", 1150GS with an MRA Vario screen and am pretty happy with the lack of buffeting, - much better than standard GS screen, even with wearing a TourX. I tried Tobinators anyway but found no appreciable benefit however I adjusted them, and was dazzled at night by the light reflecting back from the perspex headlight protector (I know that is another discussion, but I have had a stone break a headlight on a BMW!). I bought them the tobinators secondhand and sold them on again for what I paid for them so at least can be a no-loss test if you can find someone selling a set.
