Purchased my present 1150GS in May this year. After loads of problems with it then ABS failure, I have completely lost confidence in its reliabilty. So today I turned it into this one....:D

Just hope I enjoy the 1200GS as much as I enjoyed the past 9 years of 1150GS riding.....:D:D:D

If not will be looking for a swap.....took it for a test ride, it definitely handles different to the 1150GS and on the way back home was thinking "should I have done this"....:D

:thumb safe and happy riding Mick :beerjug:

It's not a GSA, and it's got one of those old fashioned air cooled engines! :D.....but I'm sure you'll learn to love it. :D

Safe riding :thumb2

I think you'll enjoy that every bit as much as you did the 1150, it's different, but not in a bad way.

Wally Flaps....

Have been searching for a set of Wally Flaps for the 1200GS. The only ones I can find are from Nippy Normans, can't see ones from Wunderlich, so any other suppliers...:D

Hi hope you enjoy your new bike can i ask when you say it handles differently do you mean in a good way.

The reason i ask is i have had an 1150 and am also thinking of getting a 1200 and hope the handling is as good if not better thanks.

Looks identical to my old bike that I sold because of all the problems I was having with it ;-)

Good question....

Hi hope you enjoy your new bike can i ask when you say it handles differently do you mean in a good way.

Difficult to explain, this is just my feeling after a 30 minute ride.

Doesn't feel as planted as the 1150.

Seems to drop into corners more readily, both my bike and the 1200 had Tourances on. I find with the 1150 you can roll in to a lean at very slow speeds and not have a problem, with the 1200 when I did that a couple of times I felt I was about to drop it, no I didn't...:D

Lighter in weight which you can feel.

It didn't feel bad in anyway. I have for the past 9 years only ridden the 1150, I ride everyday all weathers, so I feel part of the bike, so to go to something which is different didn't give the feelings I was used to.

As mentioned in an earlier post, wil need a few hundred miles to really get into how it feeels.

Will admit to not 100% sure I have done the right thing, but again that is to do with knowing the bike. Just have to see.

Hi Mick.

I had exactly the same observations after I sold my GS1150 Adv and went to the GSA1200. CW had the thing right behind their door in the salesroom and once I saw it, it was love at first sight. That was 3 years ago and although CWs have tried to lure me away towards a newer one (in pale daffodil yellow as I call it !!), I am pretty much sticking with the 1200GSA in Magma red (best colour).

Hope you're keeping well ...... I think it's 3 years since was last spoke down there at Dorchester and I think you were waiting for your 1150 to be delivered back out of Wally's hands !

CW will keep you right ...... wait for that watercooled thingy in 2013 .... that'll put the cat among the pigeons.

ps: Keep it well protected in winter .... the alloy is not as sound as the 1150.

Thanks Mick, follow what your are saying it could also be that the bike is a lot lighter so wont feel as planted in the bends.

Do you find the 1200 to be a lot quicker than the 1150 thanks Liam.

Sold my 1150gsa se two years ago,it was always pampered never put away wet etc etc,ok it was 4 yrs old but by god it looked it,slight corrosion on most parts of the bike and fairly severe in some area's.FSH 22,000mls.
On the other hand my 59 1200mu now 2yrs old and to be fair not as cosseted as the 1150, fsh and 20,000 mls ridden summer and winter often put away in the depth's of winter without even a rinse off in cold water,is absolutely spotless, quick wash down and a polish brings it back looking like new.
As for the handling, never understood this term "It feels more planted" I can only think what people mean is that it's much heavier on the front end, which was my experience.
I've had a lot of bikes in my time includeing 15 boxer twins,and 1 1100gs 1 1150gsa and just ordered my 2nd 1200gs.
Believe me when I say that in my honest opinion the 1200 is a natural progression and without doubt the best of the gs's so far,and before anybody starts about "soul" "charactar" these things only exist in living organisms.
Enjoy your 1200,the 1150 was a great bike but the 1200 is better,by a long way.

Steve
