Gosh, it has gone all quiet here in Scotland without the away tripyfying two mongrels. Hope they are getting better weather.
Whatya doing?:beerjug:
Me! Picking up a C90:thumb2 from a fellow board participant, and finishing preparations for tomorrow.
You!:nenau

After a wash and clean I'm gonna head up to Kelty to see my sister and might make a bit of a detour through the forest and scope out somewhere to play :augie

Bring your C90 along when you pick it up :thumb

If that's Blairadam forest I'd keep well clear. That's where Fife Polis have their firearms range. Most Fife Polismen that I know shouldn't have a notebook, never mind a gun

Me? I'm heading out shortly with Mrs Ronno and the dog to go for a walk in the woods at the Pillars Of Hercules in the Lomond woods near Falkland. Lovely part of the country even on a dreich day like today.

Tonight I might have to have several drams of a particularly nice malt whisky and then do something totally illegal :augie

Go a bit further down the Pillars access road and turn in at the farm .
Go south (into farm) as far as able to an elevated area with an old surrounding wall. That is the site of an ancient church (much older than Falkland itself).
On the hillside sort of South East at the edge of the wood is a rocky outcrop called 'Bell Crag' where the locals were called 'to prayer' by the tolling of a bell.:rob

arcboutant

Alan, Didn't see this post before we left but we walked up to the Tyndall Bruce Monument. Really nice walk and spectacular view from up there :thumb2

I'll be having a nice quiet night at work ( hopefully) The downside of this is I will probably trawl the internet for some bling to bolt onto the bike when I get home...

Adv screen?

Hid's?

Intercom?

What'll it be?:D

Quiet night in for me too!! (at work) and I'm not going outside as it blawin a gale 50mph+ just now so steak & chips then a night in front of the box it is.

I'm just watching the kids whilst SWMBO is away at stobo castle for a break. Wouldn't be so bad if the youngest wasn't toilet training.

Aye Ronno.

The Onesipherus Tyndal-Bruce Pepperpot is a bit east and obviously higher than the auld kirk site.
T-B stayed in the Hill o' Tarvit mansion and wanted to give work to local men .

So he had this built and - I believe - on a site that is visible from some part of the mansion house.
There are some lovely cobbled roads in among the woods up there too. These were layed to allow the Falkland estate owners to travel up there in there carraiges from the toon.

I'm intrigued as to where you mean Arcboutant. I know this area well as I was brought up in Falkland. Do you mean Kilgour Farm, and are you referring to the site of Kilgour Chapel? I belive the farm steading was built on land associated with the site and burial ground of Kilgour Chapel. Its a long time since I visited the farm but I do remember some very ancient graves at the east side of the steading.

I was out at the Pillars of Hercules on my bike about three weeks ago - I see there is even a wee tea room there now, but what's with the gates on the roads? Like Ronno says a lovely area, and a nostalgic one for me.

the very place Mcfie

it's a few years since I was there too and other than the raised ground level not much to see but yes thats the place.
Greenhill and the Maigh Dun are above it on the hill.:thumb

I went there again on Sunday.

I think the gates on the road are to discourage motorists. The road from the organic farm/tearoom has (I'm told) been re-laid and officially unveilled as part of the Fife Cycle Route.

Hi Chuck hope you made it back OK - there is a big empty hole in the garage where the C90 was but I'm already thinking of filling it up with another bike... (mind you at the moment its covered in 1200 GS bodywork)

I spent several hours mountainbiking around Blairadam and surrounding woods on sunday - as well as enjoying the cycle I was sussing out the possibility of taking a wrong turning on my trials bike and having a wee explore as well. Lots of potential but the polis have done a few sting operations there over the last wee while (mainly in the environs of the main car park and nature trails) so watch your step. Previously there was a nice discreet access from the top of the Cleish hill road but someone has just built a house next to it so its now chancy. The forest to the southeast of Loch glow may have some more potential however! Oh and I know the local forester and he's a nice chap so I'm reluctant to risk upsetting him by riding a motorbike round the forest....
