Right either I'm being a dumbass or from speaking to Motorworks and latterly BMW BahnStormer, it doesn't seem possible to buy spare seals/ pistons etc for these calipers which off a bike with servo abs brakes. The BMW tech couldn't understand it either. However it would seem like you can buy spares for just about every other caliper known to man.

I appreciate I may have missed a load of posts on this over the years but what's the answer? Surely you can't have to throw away a caliper instead of changing the seals???????

Motorworks sell them

Thanks for the reply. I'll call them again as last time I asked the person I spoke to was convinced they didn't sell replacements and these seals pistons didn't appear to be made which I thought was a bit odd.

If you're splitting the calipers, I believe that the seals that you would need for the caliper halves are Honda part numbers. The BMW kit doesn't include them.
#45103-MEL-003 RING, SEAL Joint - 6.5 X 11.5 X 2.2 (SEAL BETWEEN Tokico CALIPER HALVES)

How did you get on?

I have ordered a repair kit for mine. I hope it will arrive this week and then give it a go. Any problems or tips? Cheers Baz

The service kit you get will not include the o ring seals between the calipers and are not available from BMW sources. The good news is I obtained mine from Kawasaki Cradley Heath and are stock items Kawasaki (part no. 43049- 1004) and Honda (part no. 45103-MEL-003) and are about £2.25 each.

Hi Baz,

In the end I didn't bother as I solved the problem by giving them a good clean with a tooth brush and brake cleaner. They now work so will save the joy of this job for another day.

Hope all goes well for yours.

On the off chance that this is useful to anyone else, I've discovered that Dave of Powerhouse will rebuild both front calipers for £60 if you send him the rebuild kits from Motorworks and will turn them around in a couple of days. I appreciate that lots of peeps on here have done their own but having had a bad experience of rounding off a torx headed bolt and it costing a chunk of change to put right, then I figure £30 each side isn't too bad.

For an extra amount they'll also paint them any colour you want if that's your bag.

To finish this thread off, I posted my calipers off to Dave at Powerhouse (£11 Royal Mail Special Devliery) who turned them around in two days before shipping them back the same way. As well as fitting the new seals and pistons they came back really clean including new bleed valves, torx bolts and copper sealing banjo washers. Also they were pressure tested before leaving their workshop. All in all, I can't recommend their services enough and braking is now a revellation!

Worth bearing in mind for future, so how much ?

I bought the rebuilt kits from Motorworks and Powerhouse charged £60 including VAT to do the necessary including the supply of the bleed valves and the return postage.

Thanks, good value, when I consider the bleeding hands & broken torx bits.
