Ok I admit it before you say I am a cheap skate because rather than buy a bike sat nav I want to use my car one.Well come on why are bike ones so expensive.I know all that about weather proof etc so I do not agree that it should make them that more expensive.
Anyway I am off to France and I just want to use it to find my hotel when I get into town so if I buy a car cigarette lighter and connect that to the battery is that the problem solved.

Thanks for quick response Forestbiker I will go on Ebay and buy one now.Sorry to say it but its going onto my Blackbird but and there is a but given this is my 5th BB and I really do not need the sort of power it puts out and I am not riding it how it wants to go after my trip to France I think its got to go and if its not replaced by a GS it could be close your eyes at this point a camper van.

A bike for a camper NO , i couldnt be without a bike , have both :D
One thing i forgot to say if you dont know ' not telling you how to suck eggs ' use the charger what comes with it , dont cut the lead down to wire it straight in because the charger steps the power down on my tom tom :thumb2

I used my Garmin 205Wt on the bike and if it looked like rain I put cling film over the whole unit and just pushed the plug in before putting it in the cradle. If you get the film tight on the front you will not see it and you can still use functions on touch screen, when it is behind the screen not much water is going to get to it.

Cheers Colin only just seen your reply. Having just got back from France weather was awful and used the SNav tucked into the tank bag, which I like to use for docs etc I would like to try and get a specific SNav mount hence my new thread.

Hondated,
You are certainly not the first cheapskate on this site in using their car sat nav on the bike :cool

My Tom Tom 740 live connected via the plug in canbus system and used on our France trip last month. Worked a treat :banana

Thanks Graeme. Great picture as well and its once again got me lusting after a GS.Some people knock the GS for some of its electrical foibles, not me, but my Mr reliable Honda Blackbird has got an electrical fault so any bike you can get a problem with.

I am definitely heading towards a GS but the wife seems to be the problem at the moment.
