Hi

I was lucky enough :D to pursuade my work to get me a sat nav system for the car, a Tom Tom Go 500. I have used it a couple of times on the GSA by putting it in the top of of a tank bag and although you cannot hear the voice directions it is good enough to get you to where you want to go.

Looking on the Ram Mount website they do a fixing bracket for the TT Go units now and I was wondering if any one has used one yet. My comcern would be how securly the sat nav unit is attached as I would not want to see £400+ of kit go bouncing down the road

Obviously when it rains you would still need to put it back in the tank bag as it is not a water proof unit.

Appreciate anyone views on this as I am too tight to buy a second sat nav system just for the bike :thumb

The RAM-B-202-TO1 migrates to the TT assmebly as images on RAM UK show. TT do not offer a solution. The TO1 bracket is secure and unlikely to bounce along the road .. so long as you tighten up screws.. :D

Thanks for that.

Yes I am sure that The Ram Mounts themselves will not cause me a problem. My concern is the way in which the TT Go unit fits on to the TT base unit which in turn fits onto the Ram T01 Bracket.

The TT sat nav simply clips onto it's the base unit and whilst it has never been a problem when fitted in the car, I am not so sure about this on the GS.

Looks like in a bike application that it could do with some extra security to ensure the 2 stay together!!!

Then again maybe I am being over cautious

Paul,

I'm just about to investigate fitting a TTG to my newly acquired 1200GS. It was on my FJR and, like yourself I was concerned regarding the thing flapping around and possibly dropping off. So I used some velcro strips. Excellent.

Pictures below.

Guess I need to talk to Ram-Man about 12GS options.

Jedi- talk to me by all means but I do not offer/use/sell velcro !.:D

As to the 12GS, this has been discussed recently and I have posted comments regarding the TTR. To migrate TTG onto the 12GS, then add RAM-B-231Z, RAM-B-201 and RAP-319 if attaching on the oval bar around the clocks. See the thread originated by Alec Muffett as its very detailed with images.

Thanks for fowarding the photos :thumb

In 2 minds at the moment as to sorting out a mounting kit for the Tom Tom Go or buying a waterproof Garmin Quest. Think I will do the latter if I can ever find one at under £200

Managed to fit the TomTom Go cradle using nothing more exiting than a 49p rubber-covered 'P' clip that I found in the bottom of my box of bicycle spares.

The spacer is there to raise the back of the cradle and allow it to sit level, whilst also supported slightly by the top of the speedo housing.

At the very lowest setting (never used), the screen just touches the top of the TTG.

First photo shows the cradle mounting (and my velco straps), second shows the finished view.
