I read somewhare that he says that it was taken out of context. I was not there so I cannot comment on the actual article. JJH

he is a comedian, a jester if you like , allowed to comment on our soceity and our behaviour in an alternate context, he is having a laugh, and as sure as chips he was either misquoted by the mejiah or something, he is a comic legend , and not a bernard mathews.

I think it is unlikely the Irish Times would make up what he said or risk a courtcase by misquoting him. It is disgusting to think this is what passes for comedy. I hope it is not going to pass un-remarked.

i have no problem with joke,s about jews , irish, blacks ,indians or any one else for that matter especially the english :, if it,s a joke and not meant to harm or offend any one, but then again some people can be offended very easly there,s no better people than the irish and the engilish for takin the piss outta themselfs
the jewish are good at it too, but i dont think i,ve heard any jewish comedians tell,n joke,s about the holocost, be like us takin the piss outta the famine,but i do have a problem with people passing themselfs off as comedians, such as our freind tommy the trouble with teirnan is he,s pissed up all the time and forgets what he can get away with he thinks every show is a night on the piss with the lads and no else is listening.

You've obviously never seen Langerland TV. There's a very funny sketch there about families eating fat relatives and surviving for weeks on auntie cait.

Tommy Teirnan gave up drink about 5 years ago!

The newspaper article is giving out about Teirnan doing it for publicity. Well then, why are you printing an article about it? He said it in an live interview in front of about 100 people. Newspapers like the times are giving him the publicity with their vast circulation!
Personally, I thought it was funny. You can get the whole interview off his website. Better to listen to that and make a judgement than jump on a few lines, joe duffy style.
