In Sedan (look it up yourselves ) after leaving Hayling Island at 0700 with the lad / door to door it’s been 350 miles - my maximum has been 500 on prior trips - but two up with him 350 was too much - reckon for the rest of the week I’m going to do 200 a day max / broken up with some sight seeing etc / the odd longer lunch.

Tomorrow we head down the Meuse to Verdun - target bed tomorrow night Épinal then the Jura……

Luttle Sedan story; trying to find a filling station one night and pulled into a card only with no card just cash; a kind gent let me fill on his card and took my cash; other than that i know nothing about the place apart from crisscrossing the French Belgium border. You mention being killed; the Mrs was ready for killing me;

A good decision to cut down on the daily mileage.

Take some time, see some ‘stuff’ along the way. There are no medals handed out.

On a jaunt like this, I like to stop (early in the day) at a supermarket and pick up a sandwich / water for lunch. That way, I can stop as and when I fancy, not necessarily in a town and not have to hunt for a decent looking cafe or restaurant.

Booked a Hotel in Epinal - booking.com over breakfast - perfect - and for the worried type it has “secure” parking !!

165 miles away - but on D roads - will be time to ride romantically…..

In other news - some of you know my grandson is special - as such we have, with his agreement a tracker on his phone….

Now this tracker has all sorts of alerts……

It’s been reporting speeds to my wife back in the UK - now we all know that speeding does not count in foreign… and I’ve managed to convince her that it was KM’s and the algorithms have got confused…..
