Hi all

Fitted a TomTom Rider 400 GPS to my GSA. I decided for a TomTom rather than a Garmin because I know TomTom from my iPhone where their gps program is fine. But what I expirenced later was that TomTom Rider 400 has a problem with its bluetooth connection to a headset fitted to your helmet. And that must be called a severe failure for a GPS for a motorcycle.

So a warning: if you plan to buy a TomTom Rider, then you will have problems with vocal directions if the bluetooth connection for traffic update is enabled. The problem is a hoarse voice and TomTom knows about the problem from several postings on TomTom's on-line forum. But for more than a year TomTom has been unable to solve the problem. The problem could be linked to an outdated bluetooth chip in the GPS some users suggest. Now you know if you are on the market for buying a GPS.

i have this nav upgrading from there older one the v5 and its grate iv had no problems with it at all. maybe your using a cheep headset

No problems here and I am on my second one. Sold the first one when I bought my Nav V but went back to the Rider. The Nav V is seriously overpriced and not a particularly good GPS.

I use the Schuberth SCR headset which is on TomTom's positive list. I am glad that others see no problems but we are a lot that is not so lucky. We get a hoarse voice when we use the bluetoth connection to the phone to get traffic updates. The only solution is to stop the live traffic update and thus, being caught in traffic jams. Then we have a clear voice from the Rider 400 GPS. TomTom is aware of the problem but apparently cannot solve it. The problem has been known for over a year by TomTom.

Apart from that, I really like the GPS - albeit I could live without the almost psychedelic colours TomTom has chosen... :-)
