Tomtom rider help v2 - to update or not, never used

I have a tomtom rider v2, that has never left the box. I have no idea what software its running but I suspect it could use updating.
Given that I will have missed all the intervening updates, is it worth doing or should I just use it as is?

Keep it in the box. Never, ever remove it.

PS It won't do any harm to update it.
