I have a problem with my TomTom Rider. The unit when on my GS12 only charges intermittently & runs flat. :spitfire
The cause is that the Rider does not fit positively into the holder and rattles; this has caused the electrical connections to wear & only make an intermittent connection. I know the old BM vibrates a bit but the TomTom is supposed to be designed for a motorcycle! . I complained that the Rider-Holder was not a good "positive" fit 7 months ago & I received a new rubber holding strap. This obviously did not improve things..... Looks to me like a poor design.
Anyone had the same problem?

Mate of mine had a big discussion with Tom Tom about the failure of his first unit with exactly the same problems as you describe. They dismissed his claim out of hand leaving him with the only option of purchasing another unit. This has subsequently failed. Only had it for 3 weeks and the thing is goosed. He's now selling it and moving onto a Garmin. His final comment about the system was that he may fit it to his nieces "Barbie" bike as this is what it was basically designed for.

Another problem, while i'm here, was that while on a ride with him, at the same time both our systems (Mine - Garmin 2720) passed some sort of electrical burst of energy which tripped out our systems. Mine rebooted after switching ignition off/on but when he turned his on, he found it had completely wiped his cards.

i have recently started wrapping some electrical tape around the cradle in an attempt to stop exactly this...a friend's TT has just started doing it...had similar problem with mio 168...vibration from the bike caused the aerial to wear through at the plastic hinges..they repaired it under warranty.

am about to email tom tom...see what happens eh!
