Too many adds and not enough room ...

I have a few (tasteful and kind of useful) mods/adds on my 1250A. All are working fine but, I'm not happy with the squashed in battery, terminals tight against the housing and the battery itself.

I have threaded the connections as best I can through the frame, various gaps and under seat cavities, getting the terminals to where they need to be on the polarity posts, all ending up in rammed in effect. Double jointed elbows, fingers and thumbs on all three hands came into good use and apart from doing a significant dismantling of the bike, and even then, I'm not sure if I'd gain in the battery box.

Off the top of my head, I have added a battery charging/conditioning fly lead, heated clothing fly lead, a Carpuride and there's a 12v dual charger set into the cockpit.

Is there something where I can connect all these externally to the battery box and have a single wire to each terminal?

Change the connector for your heated clothing or battery tender to match and that does away with one connection.
Get longer bolts for your battery terminals.
 
I have bought an optimate adapter lead to use my heated jacket lead to charge the battery. SAE to co-axial.
For accessories where I want the power switched, I have fitted a Thunderbox. I have used a feed from a switch live to trigger this device so my sat nav is powered without the engine running. This is on my V85 so cannot advise re. exact BMW connections.
As a result, I only have 2 leads added to the battery terminals.
 
Oh yeah, my lead is also used to power my tour man tyre pump. So I have 3 attachments on one lead from the battery.
 
Add an Oxford junction box, moves the connection points to maybe the rear of the seat for more space. Pop them out the side-solve a lot although you would have 2 wires left connected at battery.

A hex ezcan would do the same but far more technical than you may want

The battery charging can be done by using the same lead as the heated gear lead ,
So that’s 1 lead
Buy n fit up a Healtech Thunder box - all the rest can be connected to that . Available at 16A and 32A .

Yes, fit a thunderbox.

A very neat and easy solution.

It’s amazing how often the answer on this forum is: “Go straight to the battery”, until so much spaghetti is piled on that simply screwing down the nut on the battery pillar is a challenge.
 
Four Terminals 2+ and 2- Motorbatt Batteries, another advantage as well...but a Thundebox seems a good solution.
 
Right, apologies for the resurrection of this thread.

Trying to make a bit more sense of this and before investing in the Thunderbox, I have the following devices connected direct to the battery:

Gerbing heated jacket connection
NOCO battery booster connection
Optimate charger connector

Photos show each connection port on the bike, each with its cables routed back to the battery.

Is the advice to get the Thunderbox and if so, how would each device connect as each has a different connector type. The red single female port socket (male end in view) is the Gerbing. Below that is the Optimate (two cables into a 12v "cigarette lighter" type connection). Other side of the bike is the battery booster port (with the gold shock in view).

So, how would the Thunderbox solve the issue of the number of direct connections, would I have to cut the supplied cables to enable connection?

Being a bit thick, I know, so let the piss take begin!

where devices connect to battery...disconnect them. Cut the ring terminals off. strip wire. Place +ve wire into positive terminal on thunderbox. Place all negative terminals into negative of thunderbox. Leave the connecters for jacket etc. You are just replacing the power source. Connect thunderbox power source to battery...think of it like an extension lead
 
the thunderbox is not suitable for you apart from the heated gear

you cannot jump start or charge a battery via a Thunderbox as it is a switched supply only active if the engine is running (or ignition on if configured that way)

My only comment is why do you need the booster and charger to be separate cables? The high current booster cables should be capable of use for charging.

see above, a Thunderbox is not suitable for a charging or jump start application
