Too much movement on Vario top box

Dear tossers
I have recently noticed quite a lot of play/movement on my Vario top box. I fitted it new about 5 months ago and recall that it wiggled a little bit on its black plate however I noticed today that it 'wiggles' about quarter of an inch each way now!

It does not feel that it is about to fall off but it does not instill confidence. I had a look at the underside of the box and the plate it fixes to and cannot find anything damaged or worn.

Is this common (I have searched this but have not found anything) and can I adjust anything?

Cam lock strap maybe for piece of mind Mine moves a little but not that much

Bits of thin rubber in the two locating lugs worked for me.

Thanks gents. I have put a short length of bicycle inner tube over the lugs and this has resolved the issue but I am surprised after spending so much hard earned cash that I have to resort to this!

Same in mine though strangely only on the near side front location. Bit of rubber makes it far snugger

We have 4 top boxes and only two of them have the same strengthening plate inside - not sure if that effects the fits. I'll have to take a look, as one of them is a bit more rattly compared to the others.

Mine's had about quarter-of-an-inch 'wiggle' for the past 8 years or so (same box, different bikes). I once put a piece of foam on the rails to make it fit better, but promptly forgot about it when I went into a hotel one night with the box and lost it.

It is nice to know that after 8 years it has not fallen off, which is my main concern!
