High oil level - been there, done that.
If the level is visible with the engine running I wouldn't panic you're probably 250-300ml overfilled, but for peace of mind its probably best to let the engine cool then drain a wee bit out via the sump drain plug (wear gloves, oil is a known carcinogen).
I would not normally advocate putting drained oil back into an engine but if you need to, be sure to use a spotless container and clean around the sump plug before removing to ensure no grit etc can get washed down into the oil you collect.

That oil is thicker than 20-50 and therefore each litre takes up more room in the crankcase. So it will show up higher on the sight glass
