Took the M1000XR out yesterday...

Thinking about ordering one - to replace the 310GS.
Missing my fireblade, and maybe missing a few screws too.............

The M1000XR is the most comfortable superbike for sure and has the regular S1000XR beat with a much more flexible engine thanks to shift cam and shorter gearing 👍 But in true BMW fashion they made it less attractive for lets say 2/3rds of potential customers by leaving hard bags & practical centerstand off the options list…

utter bollocks as per usual

Of course BMW will sell more because they offer no hardbags or centerstand for the M/XR for an otherwise excellent bike…Idiots who often have no clue what customers really want…Hint a little more than a comfortable track toy for 30 grand…LOL

If I'd bought one I'd just do the same on the M1000XR as I do on my M1000R stick a set of soft panniers and a tailpack on it when its only me going abroad touring with my mate, if the wife is coming along then I'll use the GSA. :)

I had a Gen1 and reached the same conclusion on power. It's useless if you can't get at it really, although with the Gen1 all the luggage was available and it was great as a sports tourer. I thought it would replace my GS as a 'go to' bike, and I am glad that I kept hold of the GS now.

Would I buy another? Not personally.

I'm of the same viewpoint, I've owned 2 S1000XR's, a 2015 & 2023 both great bikes for one person and for us just not enough luggage capacity for 2 people touring Europe for 2 weeks in reality, The GSA is far better and in 99% of circumstances its the better bike for 2 up touring.

The MXR can carry far more payload than the GS. Ideal for two up touring.
Big tank bag, throwover panniers and a large roll bag. More than adequate.

Ian at BRM with a great review , as always , riding the ÜberWankPanzerLicht

Nice , did a straight swap almost for the Multi to a 25 plate 300 mile white one. Decided the Comp pack with the carbon was nice but impractical for me.
Happy new bike .
Bike thanks to Williams BMW in Manchester a great place to buy a bike.
