Tool box lid / pillion seat

Is there some gadget available so the 1150GS can be used with the pillion seat removed, to secure the tool box lid and stop water getting in through the hole where the pillion seat latches on ?

The gadget is in the tool box. It's a latch that slots into the hole and can be used to lock the cover.

Yeah but it's not very secure, lid is plastic, common all the innovators n vendors give us a lockable metal watertight tool box cover with bungee hook points! 1 buyer waiting here, (stuff TT n Wunderpoo!)

Looked at the price of the TT jobby, and just as I was deciding what I was going to do, I saw this thread:

I have one of these nice mr masters contraptions.

I also spoke to my contact at the local engineering firm, and he rustled a cover up for me as well. A cover which includes luggage tie down loops, and locks to the already existing seat lock. When I am not using it I can still have the seat on.
My advice would be, get in touch with your local engineering or fabricators, and see what they can do. Plus side to that is they probably could do what you wanted.
Otherwise, ask the nice Mr. Masters to see if he has any kicking about gathering dust (although the price might have gone up a bit since then) or get him to draw you out a template and do it yourself and feel the satisfaction of a job well done.

i have the touratech cover.it saves having to lift the old leg the pillion seat.as usual very well made.but slow delivery time.

A while ago, I got a Hepco and Becker one from Motobins. It's been secure and is slightly dished. It's great for fastening stuff onto. The finished has suffered in the salty arctic wastes that I inhabit, but a bit of hammerite has sorted that. I think it cost about £80 inc p&p

Made by Zweckdesign and sold by Wünderlich. Expensive (about 150 euro I think) but very good.
