Hi all,

Picked my new 1200 up yesterday and checking it over noticed the tool kit contents.

17m spanner
Screwdriver
C spanner
Long flat bar thingy
Plug spanner

Is this the same as other 1200 tool kits or this there things missing? just seems a bit light to me. Not even get a puncture repair kit anymore? Or is it all this part of the weight reduction!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apart from the too kit, top machine!

Thanks for any help,

TD

You should have a puncture repair kit as well. Cant remember the exact content of my tool kit but I'm sure there are more bits in there than you've listed.

From memory

At least several torx keys and a puncture repair outfit missing.

Steptoe does'nt really mean it.........

Plug cap extractor thingy is under the tool tray. Page 111 of owners manual.

Thanks for all the reply’s

Hmmmmmmmmm looks like there is a new modification to the latest bikes, now’t in my manual about the tool kit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tool kit

As from model build 2005 , all bmw's come with a drastically reduced toolkit and unfortunately this does include the 1200gs.Now before you all start slagging the supplying dealer just remember this is not their fault - its been implemented by the factory and yes one of the casualties is the tubeless tyre repair kit,but having seen so many virgin looking toolkits under the seats of bikes in my time i wonder wether its any real hardship

tool kit

Unfortunately this is the way bmw is going, ive expierianced cost cutting on the 650gs i have but its a surprise when you spend almost £10,000 you dont even get a plastic tool to remove plug cap or even tools so you can remove rear wheel.I must say very pleased with bike but very disapointed with the tool kit.
Its a little weird on the 650,they use poor bearings and dont grease them adequately and yet fit stainless fastners...go figure:(

ummm as desribed by team duvet my tool kit:D equally full with nothing. just spoken to bath road motor cycles, who checked two other new 1200gs's and they had same tool kit. apparently 2005 bikes all have reduced kits as not required !! by owners. bmw class all bikes from september 04 on as 05 model range??
they also said on new k1200 just has one screwdriver one spanner!
