Hi,

My second hand 1200GS (2004)came without a toolkit, is it worth buying the BMW one? and how much to BMW dealers charge?

I already have a small toolkit with a few torx fittings that I keep in the bike, so are there any unique bits that come with it apart from the shock collar adjuster?

I have had a look at the toolkit links with what some of you have got already so no need to point me to it, just wondering if when building mine up it also worth using some bit sform the original bearing in mind BMW will probably charge a fortune.

There's so little of any use in the 1200 toolkit (especially compared to the splendid collection you get with the 11xx) I'd certainly not bother buying the BMW one, you can't even get the wheels off with what is provided. The only vital tool is the key to unscrew the oil filler plug.

the tool kit that comes with the bike is as much use as a chocolate fire guard, there is a guy on ebay advertising a toolkit that they have put together and looks really good and not too expensive. if you just type bmw r1200gs into ebay its their somewhere. or halfords sell everything you need. deffo better than the bwm stuff.

You have had a look at the thread(s), so it should now be very easy.

Ask yourself two questions:

(1) Are there any tools in the thread(s) that you do not have?

If so, buy them (if you think you might use them or need them) from wherever you fancy.

(2) Are there any tools in the thread(s) that are unique to BuMW and cannot be be bought anywhere but thro' a dealer's or home made?

If so, buy them at a BuMW dealers or make them or have them made, if you think you might use them or need them.
