So I picked up my new-to-me 1200GS last weekend and have put 500+ miles on it already and all seems well. I noticed that the tool kit was missing so BM have supplied one, well, they have given me a piece of sellotape and a length of string. What happened to providing a few proper tool so you can at least take the wheel off when you need to change the tyre?! Against health and saftey Sir.

So, can anyone recommend where I can get a wheel wrench (one that I can keep on the bike) and a torque socket or tool to adjust the handlebars. I bought one from Halfords but it's too thick to fit around the nut. A spark plug wrench that fits whatever size plug is on the GS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

The 1200 is so reliable that a tool kit would just be a waste....

thanks Sleepy, very helpful:thumb, Reliable they might be but my lack of good fortune with vehicles surpasses the GS's reliability.

No toolkit would have helped me when my FPC packed up as I didn't know what was wrong. Your best bet is the "Get back home free" card - ie insurance!

Look at the sticky section.

There is a link to a thread on another site, listing all the tools you will ever need for basic DIY.
