I was surprised when searching on tooltube that nothing appeared in this section...

I brougt a tool tube and am looking at options on where to mount?

I have a Holan pannier rack and have been looking at how i can attach the tube without it interfering with the pannier box's or the petrol tank.

I fancied copying Wully's mounting, but it interfere's with the box's

I want to use it to keep a PMR ratio and some other bit's n bob's which won't fit under the seat.

TIA

Made my own

Using some PVC pipe and aluminum bar stock, I was able to make one in a few hours. Maybe this will help in your mounting ideas.

The cap. Can easily add a locking latch or cable.

A view from under. The aluminum was bent, cut, and bolted to the pannier mount.

I tried here on the crashbars for a few weeks. 2 problems, with the vibrations the cover kept unscrewing, and after a few falls you can imagine...

Thanks for all the ideas

Even though i find the 'grenade launcher' look strangely appealing, i'd prefer the tubes to be subtle and discrete.

Si: Like the security - that's the next item: how to secure the contents from the opportunist. I saw someone put a thread 'insert' (not seen this before) on the inside which he then put a small screw through the lid's threads.

Madday: thanks for the piccies - that was kind of location what i was going for
Diamaduk: that looks really neat.

- i'll take another look and see ifi can merge both of your ideas.

Security..........

Security worries me a bit as well....
I'd be out in the middle of no-where ...
get a flat or something ...
open up the tool tube...
find it empty ....:blast
be a very unhappy camper ....

The casual thief would be deterred something simple like a low profile allen head screw securing the cap to the body ... put an allen wrench on your key chain and ... bob is your uncle? Not many opportunistic crooks have an allen wrench of the correct size with them ....

Not sure what would be the next level up ...
