Tool Tube ?

For anyone interested, these can be ordered from the UK from a supplier of Bear Cat chippers, at a price of £17 plus the VAT plus the postage.

So thanks for ordering them from the states, it looks like being considerably cheaper !!!

Excellent idea and a really useful addition to the bike.

I have ordered one from my local John Deere dealer - in stock next day for £14.09 incl VAT.

OK, so you saved a couple of quid - but was the aggravation worth it? How long did all the searching take, the organisation etc - minimum wage is £5.40 per hour! I bet you are actually worth a bit more than that.....Good on you for taking the trouble to shoulder the burden.

If anyone else, not on the original list of 60, who wants to get one themselves without the messing about, waiting for delivery from the States and probably going to cost £10 or more anyway.....the part number is AN241471 £11.99 plus VAT. I am picking mine up from the dealer tomorrow, as I go past the door to my lads cricket training on a Wednesday and Saturday.
John Deere in Nottingham is 01949 860491. They were very helpful - and have a few in stock. They will tell you where your nearest JD dealer is.

All fair enough but I think you`ll find you`ve ordered this :

https://jdparts.deere.com/partsmkt/document/english/pmac/34040_fb_Operators_Manual_Holder.htm

as opposed to this :

http://www.agrisupply.com/product.asp?pn=65728&ss=manual&bhcd2=1214566104

They might look similar but having seen the John Deere one in the flesh, or plastic, you`ll need to figure out a fitting so that you can attach it to your bike. John Deere do sell a fitting kit for the one you`re buying, as you can see from the link, but it`s about £8 and is basically a C hasp type contraption. The Agri Supply one has moulded flanges so it`s easier to fit and will look neater when fitted IMHO, but hey it`s your call. As long as everyone realises the John Deere part you`re ordering isn`t the same thing as we`re ordering from the states.

I`m not really bothered about my time \ cost thing, the group benefits and that`s good enough for me. If we were all to start charging for the stuff we do for mates it`d be a sad old world. Nothing personal, just my way of thinking. I`d be surprised if it was more than a tenner, but we`ll wait and see went it hit`s these shores.

Good option for those who don`t get one on this bounce though and don`t want to wait until the next time.

Also... the copper-coloured fixing kit shown on the right-hand-side of the John Deere product is not available in the UK. My JD dealer couldn't say why.

I was wondering about using a self-tapping screw to secure the top--remembering to keep a screwdriver elsewhere...

OOOOh I hope not, I was told it had the brackets on it. I will know when I see it...had to work todayinstead, but I did get the hinges fixed on my top box....thanks to someone putting the contact details up on here. £35 the pair delivered (whole box fell off on the Mway...only a few battle scars and broken hinges) BMW wanted double that.

Hi Just a quick update below, I had also asked for a quote to supply another 100. With the price they`ve given and the reasons for it I don`t think I`ll be doing that. But it looks like the shipping costs I paid for the 60 was underestimated so that`s a bonus.

Mr. Morrison -
Your order for 60 shipped on 6/30/08 via US Postal Service.
Delivery should take place within 10 days.
Please let me know when you receive these.

As for the order for 100 - we found that we had to pack these 15 per box to fall within international size limitations and that we had underestimated our shipping cost. We will have to ship the 100 in 7 boxes for a total shipping cost of $645.00.
So the total order with shipping will be $1144.00.

Jerry @ AgriSupply

I`m on holiday for a week as of 7th July so it`ll be therafter before I get in touch with those on the list.

Only just picked up this thread, I'll have one if there are any left !

Boys and Girls, Girls and Boys.

I came back from a week of hols yesterday to discover 4 big boxes from Agri-Supply in the good ole US of A.

So, time to get distributing. I`ve added up the initial cost, postage as well as what the expected costs per unit for onward Recorded postage are and I get to about £9.70. £7 for the cost to get them here and another £2.70 for postage, so if everyones happy to pay £10, that`ll cover the cost of Payapl fees and placcy bags to send them. Don`t really want to lose money on this after all :-)

We only ordered 60 and those who signed up before I brought it to a halt are listed below. We should have a few extra for those who subsequently said they fancied one but I`ll sort that out once we see what I`ve got left.

I really can`t be arsed going to banks and dealing with cheques etc as I truly don`t have the time, so as previously said it`s a Paypal only deal. You don`t need to have a paypal account to make a payment I recall.

Anyway, for all those listed below, if you want to make a Paypal payment of a tenner a unit to craig at 7thsin.co.uk and give me a note of your forum name as well as your real name and postal address I`ll get them out to you asap.

Anyone who wants to drop by the house (FK5 4JJ) and collect theirs or drop into my office (G1 3PL) drop me a PM and we`ll sort it, obviously you won`t pay the postage. :oonyack

All I want in return are lots of photos of how\where folk are fitting them to their GS`s, I need some inspiration.

Once you`ve paid if you can give me a couple of days to get it out to you it`d be appreciated.

Cheers

Craig
