Right have any tossers got a tool tube for your 1200gs. If so where did you mount it? Seen a cpl on fleabay and thought one might be handy as i ride an raf (rough as f*ck) bike lol and will prob need the tools for a breakdown.

Is it an Adv or standard GS? Here's mine, just to confuse its a standard GS with adventure luggage fitted :thumb

Thanks for reply Ted. Mine is a standard gs with standard luggage. Do you know the dimensions of the tube. Not sure where i would put it.

Lots of threads about these tubes on here, nobody has yet found somewhere to put them (and been totally happy) on the standard GS with Standard panniers yet, lots of inmates buy em and scratch their heads for a couple of weeks then throw em in the garage, I have two sat gathering dust, every now and then I get one down and try and make it fit but no real success. Another option is to put a small box at the back of your number plate. Redrick of this parish has some good photos of one fitted.

Tool Tube

Attached to GSA engine bars with zip ties. Use it to keep water or two tins coke. Never used for tools. Too easy to steal contents.

Couple of other options if you really want to carry the tool kit. Swap rear seat to a Sargent seat with a large under seat space (costly). Cut out a chunk from under your existing rear seat with a dremal, or carry it in a Kriega R8 waist pack. Or put it under the front seat where it's supposed to live ;-)

Tools (or a lock) in a waist bag is a good way to lose a kidney.

A peli case is likely to be the best option but for touring anywhere in Europe a breakdown rescue card is more useful. The one tool you really need is always the one that got left at home.

If you have a wired intercom, put the box in the top case to free space under the seat. A Ballistic battery will free a lot of space (for a price) and might even go elsewhere on the bike.
