My recently bought 1200GS 2005 has a tool kit which has been decimated by the previous owner, totally useless, Screwdriver, bar with a nut welded on for the front wheel, ext bar & oil filler tool and a spanner for the front unit. Not much help is it? My old R1100GS had a nice rack under the pillion seat with a comprehensive tool set. Is there a std tool set for this bike, or do I raid my tool box for the appropriate items?

Maybe asking in the 1200 section would help. You've wandered into the for sale and wanted section.

:Edit:
Now moved to the 1200 Hexhead section.

The later I ones hardly had anything in them all I got was a screwdriver, Allen key, 1 spanner and pair of crap pliers

Duct tape, cable ties, stop and go puncture repair kit, tyre pump, set of Torx drivers, oil filler key.

Flat screwdriver, Posi 2 driver, Oil filter socket, Oil filler key, front wheel hex tool and that's about all you need. For anything else use breakdown service or tow a tool van behind you. You could consider taking selected Hex and Torx keys with a handle of some sorts but for most jobs you can't carry every too you'll need.
