Hi folks,

It would appear this winter has taken it's toll on my 2000 1150 GS. The bike is used daily and I've recently had a couple of corrosion based problems. One was corroded wires going into the block connector under the plastic right hand panel which affected the fuel pump priming. Now all sorted:thumb. Then I found that the small aluminium washers on the clutch slave cylinder/banjo hose were also corroded allowing clutch fluid to leak out....again now sorted with copper replacements:thumb

Yesterday I noticed my top ABS warning light was flickering at around 4000 rpm...it goes out below 4k so I'm thinking possible loose/corroded connection somewhere?

The bike is acf50'd every winter so I do try to protect it but this winter has seen worse weather than usual and the bike has suffered as a result.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to any common places that any corrosion that would cause this problem may occur? I'm planning on giving the bike a really good clean tomorrow and will be taking a look under the tank to clean ect so any pointers would be most welcome.

Thanks
Phil

All I'd suggest is that you buy an aerosol can of electrical contact cleaner. Pull apart any connector blocks, spray with this, then sspray with ACF50, maybe even fitting them together and pulling them apart a few times to aid the cleaning process.

If nothing else, this will diminish potential future problems.

Hopefully Steptoe will be along soon, to offer some proper advice.

The ABS relay might have something to do with this. :nenau

Mine did something similar a while back and it was the relay....

Intermittent

Hmmm.....the trouble with intermittent faults is that they're bloody intermittent:blast

Anyway....after a beautiful day yesterday which I spent cleaning the thing, the fault no longer occurs...but...that maybe cos its sunny and I can't see the light flickering, or it may be that with some nice electrical contact cleaner on all the connectors etc I have fixed it?

So...at the moment it would appear fixed but watch this space:augie

hows the battery getting on a bit or in good condition ?, they have been known to cause some ABS issues
