Top Box Failure

Well according to my dealer they have had no top boxes splitting on the mounting bit !

Called BMW and was told by the chap that he had no knowledge of top box problems and that if there was a problem they would do something about it.

I said well what would the failure rate have to be before something was done and what is the present failure rate ? guess what he couldn’t tell me !

he said that it was not in a companies interest to sell faulty products and not recall them when there was a issue so I said what about Honda and VFs !

They also said there was only one type of box as there was only one part number ?

However the good out of it was that BMW do employ people who belive in the corporate line and well they do pay his wages so fair enough I suppose.

My top box broke on its mountings a couple of weeks ago and was replaced with no problems by Wollaston's.

I was advised (?) that BMW do not change part numbers if the new design is fit, form, and function compatible with the old version. So the modified version of the top box I have will have the same part number as the old one.

aaahhh same number different bit, they did offered to replace the box straight away, I said unless thay had changed it what was the point.
