Top Box Forward Mount

I am looking at getting the kit to mount the vario top box where the rear seat should go. I know that the rear carrier also has to be removed. Anybody know if there if still some rack space left behind the box for securing a tent etc??

No room at all unless you're happy to strap the tent to your rear light and then you'd have to remove the tent evrytime you wanted access into the top box

You might want to consider getting one of the metal framed carriers that GIVI sell to bolt to the top of their panniers to give somewhere to strap the tent?

I cut a good section from a gsa rack and fitted this, which allowed me to run a top box and still have room for tent etc. Plenty of GSA racks about you should be able to get one cheap.

I see you've got fittings foe the Vario panniers. Does the fitted rack still allow you to use the panniers and do you have any photo's of the rack with the topbox removed?

It's a better ride than having the top box way behind, the masses are definitely more centralised, and the difference can be felt.

Prop, that looks like a very nice solution. Few questions though How did you mount the rack? Does it fit the same way it does on the GSA? How much did you pay for the rack? Where from? One last question..... Could a vario top box mount plate be fixed to the GSA rack?

Just found a GSA rack on eBay for £80. Seller states it WILL NOT work with vario panniers. Shame
