Today I lined my top box with carpet. Its the stuff you do camper vans with as I had some left over from my transporter,

Bit of a pain in the ass to do because of the shape but worth it as I store my helmet in the top box and keep scratching it on the stupid bolts Touratech use.

This is great stuff as It comes with the glue already on the back, it stretches and can be heated into the corners

All in all a productive hour:)

May do the panniers at some point

What a good idea.:thumb

Have you got a link, as I might do mine?

Did mine with the felt, it's a bugger to fit it, I used a scalpel but it seems to be the hardest material for a scalpel to go through, make sure the sticky back doesn't stick to itself and be aware the paper backing tears at the most inopportune times.
I lined my panniers with 1mm self adhesive neoprene, keeps the marking down and quietens the rattling about of loose things inside.

As Ding Dong says

Go for the mega stretch.. This isn't the easiest thing to do thought inside a box, if the carpet glue touches any of the glue from another part its knackered as you cant get it apart and then you stretch it..:D

Good luck:thumb2

Same here, I found self adhesive 1mm neoprene on e-bay and lined the base of the box and put a 30mm strip around the top inside edge and covered all bolts/nuts/ protrusions inside the box, better than carpet I feel as it's not absorbent so won't smell if it becomes wet.
