I am recoding the lock for a 1100 RT top box and got it wrong.
I now have an open but locked box that won't respond to any of my keys or those of a local dealer.
Is there a way of getting the lock out short of drilling the whole thing.

Thanks

I did something similar with the mounting plate that fits the carrier on my K1200GT. The lock seemed fine but wasn't quite right :tears

I had to drill out rivets and dismantle the whole thing in order to get at the small hole that allows the locking tumbler to be depressed with an opened-out paper clip.

If I recall correctly, it is possible to insert the lock 180 degrees out so that the tumbler doesn't line up with the hole :blast

As your top box is open - can you get to the release hole ? Presumably Yes - or how else would the lock have come out the first time :nenau

If you have put the lock in 180 degrees out you will probably have to drill a second hole to get at the tumbler - and I'm guessing that isn't going to be easy.

Can we see a picture or two before too much destruction takes place ?

Bob.

might be worth a try, if its a pin tumbler lock, not waifer lock.

get an old allen key , file down the end, on the short bit this is your tension lever.

then, get a thin peice of steel , or any thing thin enough to fit inbetween the tumbler pins.

insert the allen key (tension lever) turn slightly to wich ever side turns easier.
then try lift up the pins , or jiggle them about ...

might work

this is the basics of picking a pin tumbler lock...

look on th net on utube or simalair , for a video:augie
