Having scuffed the brushed metal on my top box I thought it would be a good idea to fully remove it to get it re brushed. The plastic all came off easily enough and the metal felt to be lightly bonded to the lid. I thought just a bit of pressure would pop the metal off.
How wrong, the metal ended up deformed and kinked very easily. It did pop off but the damage to the metal is permanent. Without it water will leak in and it looks awful.
Has anybody managed to obtain and fit a new trim panel. This should be a spare as it would be so easy to swap making most luggage as new.

Iv just purchased an all black vario box lid on e-buy, the vendor states it will fit the F800 and R1200 boxes so I will be OK but I do prefer the look of the brushed alloy.

Think a new complete lit for either the top box or the panniers is just shy of £90 from main dealer.

You can't buy the metal skin, you have to buy an entire pannier/topbox lid. Even the bloody R1200GS sticker for it is £20.

A pity you didn't post this problem here before buying, I have an unused one sitting boxed in my garage, would've let you have it for a lot less than £90.

On which basis does anyone have an unused new topbox bottom moulding?

The best option might be to use vinyl wrapping film in place of the alloy skin. Or talk to @Pukmeister for the case in his garage.
