Top box vs Softbag 2 or other tail-pack ?

Ummmm maybe a one off special, a sort of white 1980's Paris Dakar tribute with the BMW stripe?? Could be expensive though ..!!!

Keep the panniers,Nutty............. they may prove useful one day, especially 2up:P

The Cotswold Do, for instance

I had the large softbag on my K1300S and it was brilliant - it held loads, was easy to get to and totally waterproof. However, whenever I stopped on tour, a mate would have to stay with the bikes while I got coffee, took a pee etc. etc. If we both went into a cafe, we'd have to park the bikes in view or keep standing up like meerkats to check the bag was still there!!!

So, I bought the sports panniers for the K. Come the first tour, I was gutted at how little I could actually get in the panniers. The day before I left, I was actually close to sticking the bag on the bike too, just so I could carry enough stuff.

Having swapped for the GS, I went for the Vario panniers. I'm heading off on the first GS tour tomorrow. I know I'm going to have to take less if I use the Varios. But until I can be convinced that the world isn't full of little scrotes intent on nicking my stuff, I won't risk taking the bag.

Just pack your stuff in your shoes:thumb2
I have used both the soft bag 2 and hard topbox. I prefer the topbox for security but the soft bag for capacity

Went with the top-box in the end and very pleased. You don't even know it's on there and the build quality is just superb. Highly recommended.

got both BMW softbags 1 & 2 ditched the panniers and would never go back, just been to germany 2 up with plenty of storage:thumby:

The stripes run across the mudguard and down the central panel on the tank It's not much but enough to be that bit different
