Quick and simple question. I have a new LC arriving mid April, remarkably the BMW top case still won't accept 2 full face lids so I need to go aftermarket. Obvious route is Givi, with the V46, or more likely the 52 litre trekker. BUT Givi don't yet do a rack for the new LC, and whilst I expect it won't be too long before they get up to date are there any other options out there or are current owners opting for the BMW top case currently?

Top case

I've just checked the Givi site and it seems that the top box rack for Monokey boxes and a pannier rack for the new GS is currently at manufacturing phase- Going to have the same problem myself come May! Hopefully they'll have sorted it by then. Don't think Touratech do a box that will hold 2 lids. :nenau

Hi
I have just fitted my Adventure Ali box to mine, fairly simple job of making stainless brackets to align up to fixing holes, looks good and saved me £450.
Now have a keyed removable top box, only holds one helmet but you should be able to fix a double unit just the same.

I was going to fit a top case but the max payload according to BMW is 5kg which really isn't very much - don't really like top cases because they put the weight too far back imho, so will use a bag on the rack instead.

I was just going to get a fitting made that will allow a standard monokey plate to be bolted to the existing BMW rack, I had a quick look the other day and it doesn't look too tricky.

Cheers

Thanks all, think it is a case of holding off for Givi, or putting up with a smaller BMW case. Think I will wait.

The Givi site seems to suggest that the SR5108 is available for the WC, but no pics yet. Anyone got any better info, or pricing?

Cheers

A bump for this question.
As much as I like how the bike looks without the ugly top case I still need a way to attach my Givi Maxia. I don't have a car so I need a way to carry stuff on the bike.

Where would be the best place to order this to get it ASAP?

Any chance of any pics :thumb

Check out SW Motech Alu rack;
http://shop.sw-motech.com/en/by+motorbike+or+scooter/BMW/R+1200+GS+LC+2013/index.htm

I've used these racks on all my bikes for years and I really like them. You add the adapter plate you want for whatever top box style you intend to use, and when you are not using the box the adapter can be removed with 3 quick release catches.

I've got MONOLOCK and a MONOKEY adapters so I can use a small or large box depending on what I need on the day.

Obviously you have to buy the adapter plate for whatever boxes you use but you only have to do that once.
After that you just buy the Alurack for your particular bike.

I've had them on a K1200S, Hexhead, Multistrada, and maybe soon an LC ;)

Not the cheapest in the world, but good quality well fitting kit that's never caused me any problems.

I could not wait till Givi get round to making one so had to make my own adaptor plate out of Ali checker plate. Its not to bad and will have to do till Givi get round to it.
Sorry if that does not help.
I could try and post some photo's if i can figure out how to if thats any use.
