With any luck i should be getting a GPS60 shortly but am still undecided which software to get to use with it.

I gather TOPO is very basic in terms of rights of way and is basically just topographical info but it CAN be loaded onto the GPSR as a kind of basemap?

Memory map on the other hand is prettymuch as detailed as an OS map but CAN'T be loaded onto a GPSR as a base map.

Sooooooo, I reckon i need memory map for plotting the routes and looking at where I've been but is it worth getting TOPO as well to load onto the GPSR for more terrain info and will it work in conjuction with memory map planned routes:nenau

All info and suggestions gratefully recieved:thumb

I use an eTrex Vista C loaded with City Navigator. I plan my walking routes in Memory Map and then transfer them to the Vista. I can't think of any reason why you couldn't do the same with Topo GB instead of CN, but you may want to check that with Garmin. I doubt it would be a problem though. Whether it is worth getting Topo GB very much depends on how much you would value seeing contour lines, etc on the GPSR. If you have a look at Topo GB using the map viewer on the Garmin website, you may think (as I do) that the contour lines, tracks, paths and minor roads all look much alike. An alternative to Garmin Topo GB would be to download a free Topo overlay - see the sticky in this section. That's what I've done and, with CN providing the road detail, I feel I've got as much info as I need on the Vista.
