Having just purchased a set of Adventure Torbinators with the mounting plates from here, I have just got round to fitting them. All seemed OK until I offered up the screen. It seems a bit too narrow to fit comfortably, but will go on with a bit of a stretch which leaves all the mounts under stress. Is this normal? Will it only work with a BMW screen?

If you've bought Tobinators for an Adv, they are designed to fit the Adv screen - not the MRA, which is designed to fit a GS Lite. I think you'll need standard Tobinators...

EDIT - here's a pic of my Adv with GS Lite Tobinators and an MRA screen - does yours look like this?

Loosen everything off and start tightening from the screen inwards, so that the perspex (or whatever the screen material is) is the least stressed.

the plastic bits and other mountings won't mind a bit of stress, but the screen itself is the weakest part of the system when assembled.

I can't remember having too many problems fitting mine but they do have to be a fairly close fit or that whopping great barn door of a screen will be flappy at motorways speeds:thumb

PS it's Tobinators, after Andy Tobin here who invented them :beerjug:

Take your time adjusting them to find the sweet spot as well....an allan key and the same stretch of road ridden a dozen times should do the job :thumb

EDIT.....I missed the implication that you don't have an OEM adv screen, sorry.

Not sure then is the answer

torbs / MRA

i too found this out with adv tobs and MRA

you can fit the MRA with the ADV tobs, just dont use the inner mounting kit for the MRA/1150gs normal screen

had mine since xmas and its fine

i thought the comparison with the OEM adv screen was slightly dissappointing cos its narrower and the wind gets on your shoulders more

each to their own though! :thumb2

Lose the two big wedge shaped bits when fitting, then yours will look like Mike O's. The adv tobinator kit is basically a normal tobinator kit, with the addition of the 2 wedge shaped bits to enable the std adv screen to fit
