What range does a Torque wrench need for general GS duties..?

8-40nm does most jobs, the only biggy that I can remember is the rear tyre bolts that need 160nm? Probably forgot something...

I'm sure my rear wheel bolts need to be tightened to 112NM not 160.

David, I've got two torque wrenches. One for low torques and one for higher torques. Of course, there is some overlap in the middle.

Yep, you need two a biggie and a tiny one sub 10Nm

halfords have one that does most of the GS torques - 8-60Nm.

My rear wheel bolts had to be 105Nm

I do not believe in using an 8Nm wrench to do 8 Nm they are not accurate at the extremes

i have the torque wrenches at work calibrated, can't say I noticed any errors at either top or bottom of the torque wrenches ranges.

David, I work in Nottingham-you're welcome to borrow my big torque wrench when you need it if it saves you buying 2 (I only use it for the wheel bolts)

One of the lower range ones is usually fine as you are usually working steel bolts into alli thread. The big b'stards are usually good if you are paranoid but unless it is a critical steel to steel job like major engine work then there is far less chance of damage.

I find 8 to 60 too wide if you are a couple of % out on 60 it is big on 8 plus I cant hear the clicks at 8
